Textiles graduate named as finalist in international awards

A 2020 textiles graduate from The Northern School of Art, Ruth O’Reilly, has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Première Vision NextGen Awards.

The awards, organised in collaboration with the leading digital platform for emerging artists and designers, ARTSTHREAD, offer an unprecedented opportunity for final year students to enjoy international visibility and rub shoulders with professionals from the entire textile industries and enjoy international visibility.

Ruth’s portfolio was selected from a total of 532 student portfolios, submitted from 80 international design schools to be considered for one of four main prizes: The Grand Jury Prize, the Imagination Prize, the Interiors Prize and the Materials Innovation Prize.  

A graduate of the School’s innovative Hartlepool-based BA (Hons) Textiles & Surface Design degree, Ruth, @loopandyarn on Instagram, specialises in hand tufted rugs – you can see her at work below.
