Staff from The Northern School of Art are showing work at the renowned Middlesbrough Art Weekender (MAW) that takes place from 22 – 25 September 2022.
The showcase of work by lecturers and practitioners from the School’s Middlesbrough and Hartlepool campuses is part of the MAW Fringe at Base Camp, Exchange House, Exchange Square, Middlesbrough TS1 1DB. The event Preview opens at 6pm on Thursday 22 September.
Liam Bradley, The Northern School of Art’s Recruitment & Admissions Manager said: “Many staff at the School continue their creative practice alongside their teaching commitments, which maintains currency on our provision as well as enriching the learner experience. Collaboration is a key part of our ethos and this exhibition gives some insight into artists and practitioners working across further- and higher-education settings.

MAW is the largest annual contemporary arts festival in the North East. Established in 2017 it is an event that champions Middlesbrough’s heritage and industrial past, transforming the town centre into a creative hub.
Since its launch the event shines a light and celebrates Middlesbrough’s vibrant creative scene with a town takeover every year. Over the years artists have been invited to make the Transporter Bridge sing, installed a giant drawing ball at Middlesbrough Town Hall, and brought a dystopian model village to Centre Square.
