Two former illustration and textiles students of The Northern School of Art are speaking about their careers since graduating, at free online events on Wednesday 28 April.

Lizzie Lovejoy, Illustration for Commercial Application alumna, 2pm – 3pm

Lizzie Lovejoy, alumna of the School’s  Illustration for Commercial Application degree, has recently been appointed the Artist of Change at arts centre Arc in Stockton.

Her biography states: ‘After graduating, Lizzie worked with a variety of clients on both local community-based and heritage-based projects. Their illustration work with Changing Relations, on the US TOO educational book and exhibition, cemented Lizzie’s signature creative process of hearing local people’s stories and translating them into visual and audio work.

“As Artist-In-Residence at Durham Sixth Form Centre, Lizzie was able to fully realise their methods and engage with the incredible local people in the County Durham area for a solo exhibition.’

Bettie Hope is a textiles artist based in Hartlepool. After studying on the School’s Textiles & Surface Design degree, Bettie has gone on to have a successful career as a freelance textiles artist, creating a range of work and also setting up different collectives and events.
