COURSE DETAILS

About our clubs
The aim is to nurture young talent, build confidence, develop creative skills and independence through a range of art and design activities. Students will cover skills such as painting, drawing, collage, design, digital and 3D such a ceramics, textiles and model making in a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Students will also learn about different artists and cultures and get to experience working in a college environment which encourages long term progression skills. We have young people from lots of different schools and areas so there are opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. Our Saturday Clubs are perfect for students already studying art and those that do not have creative courses in their school curriculum. They are a unique opportunity for young people to develop new skills and experiences within art and design.

Session Information
The course is delivered by experienced and specialist tutors from The Northern School of Art. Each session is three hours starting at 10.00am and finishing at 1.00pm with a mid-morning break. Parents are not required to stay for the duration of the class. We ask that students bring with them refreshments for break time and wear old clothes that they don’t mind getting messy. The courses all run at our Middlesbrough Campus on Newport Road. After each block, students can continue with another term of the Saturday Club, as the projects change every term.

Enrolment can be arranged over the phone 01642 288000 or in person. Students cannot start until they are fully enrolled. All materials and equipment are provided.

OUTSTANDING Student Experience

The Northern College of Art had an exceptional history for its further education when formerly known as The Northern School of Art, and Cleveland College of Art and Design prior to that. The institution previously achieved an Ofsted rating of Outstanding in 2009, and held it consecutively across all inspections until the last inspection under the Education Inspection Framework in 2025. The institution is one of only a handful of colleges to make this achievement.
